Stress Management

  • Do you often feel anxious and overwhelmed?
  • Do you over react to events, people and situations?
  • Is your life full of pressure, deadlines, frustrations and demands?
  • Has stress become so normal that it’s become your way of life?
  • Do you struggle to find peace?
  • Is your body in a state of constant tension?

Stress can affect your health physically and emotionally in many ways.  It can weaken your immune system and affect your body’s ability to heal.  Stress can aggravate illness or disease and can lead to stomach disorders, headaches, chronic fatigue and sexual problems. Stress can make you gain weight and affects the way you lose weight and is linked to insomnia. In fact, there are no positive benefits of long term stress.

Hypnosis reduces the effects of stress by deeply relaxing the client, lowering the heart rate and blood pressure and relaxing muscular tension.  The key to managing the stress is to recognize what is causing your stress and then apply the techniques of hypnosis to effectively relieve your symptoms.  Proper breathing, deep relaxation, guided imagery, and self-hypnosis can all be experienced, and taught to you, in hypnosis that can positively help you achieve your goal.

So what causes stress?  Stress is the reaction of the autonomic nervous system to a threat or threats, whether real or imagined.  When we are in a situation where we feel threatened the body goes into a fight or flight response releasing adrenaline to deal with the threatening situation.  Once the threat subsides, the body returns to normal.  If however, unused adrenaline remains in the body, this can be harmful to our health.
